I don’t know if credentials are important to you. If they are then this page provides a little insight into how I got to do what I am doing.
Why do I do what I do?
I am on a mission to raise the level of Business Skills in my home city of Birmingham and further afield in Britain. The better skills we have as a region and Nation, the more innovative, productive and ambitious we will be as a country. All this will have the benefit of creating more wealth within the economy which then filters down into our communities.
So how and where did it start?
Once upon a time, back in the early 1990’s after completing a BSc (Hons) in Computing & Information Systems I joined Cap Gemini as an IT professional. I worked with multinational clients in both the Insurance and Manufacturing sectors mainly at their Head Offices. The clients I dealt with on a daily basis ranged from temporary staff to company Directors.
While at Cap Gemini I developed my interest in Learning and People Development after a Director of one of the clients I worked for, kindly gave me a personal development book.
The author of the book had done two main things to significantly improve his life. The first was to learn Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP) and the second was to practice public speaking.
Not knowing anything about either subject I decided to sign myself up for some NLP and public speaking courses.
Over the years I progressed and successfully completed a Chartered Institute Personnel Development (CIPD) Certificate in Training Practice [CTP] and various NLP Coaching training. I also established and championed free lunchtime training seminars for fellow employees and coordinated a reading scheme, that encouraged employees to listen to children read in their lunch hours at an inner city school.
After coming to the realisation that if I wanted to follow my talents of helping people develop, then I would have to leave the relative safety of a large corporate and with no previous experience start working for myself.
Was it easy? Definitely not! But over the years I taught over five hundred people in Adult Education, spoke on BBC Radio and interviewed over one thousand people for the Police. I have also spoke nationally for membership organisations including ACCA (Association of Certified Chartered Accountants) and the II (Insurance Institute) as well as completing consulting projects within Professional and Financial Services Organisations.
All this experience gave me an eclectic mix of highly valuable skills that I am sharing with people to raise the level of Business Skills.
My three word Philosophy:
WEALTH: having the resources to do what you want, when you want, where you want and with whom you want.
WISDOM: continue to learn from inspiring people and then coach, teach and mentor others.
WELL-BEING: have the energy to enjoy life.
